Welcome to the Little Angels! As a teacher of twos, I see tremendous growth. What begins in September as grabbing a car, in December becomes "Mine!", and finally emerges in May as "That car is mine." Our twos experience social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. In our preschool class we strive to create an environment where the children and teachers can interact in a positive, loving and Christian manner.
Two-year-old children are active (we plan movement), noisy (we talk and work actively), shy (we talk with one child), egocentric (they are interested in themselves), tender (we let them know they are loved), beginners (they learn through their mistakes), curious (we let them explore), different (we recognize that each child has his own timetable and learns at different levels).
Our weekly unit is a well-balanced lesson plan. We discuss our colors, seasons and flannel board stories. We sing, dance, play games, talk about our families, and many more topics through the year. We have great fun at the craft table since this is probably our first experience at painting, gluing, finger painting, and stringing cereal necklaces. Our Playdough table is always one of the favorite centers.
Incorporating all of the room's aspects without play would be meaningless to a young child. Play is the work of young children. It is through play that they learn the skills for success in later life: Problem solving, role identification, communication, social skills, and decision-making ability. Play allows for the natural process of learning by doing.
